Charles Van Horn

Van Horn CROSBYTON- Services for Charles Van Horn, 75, of Crosbyton will be at 2 p.m. Monday, February 18, 2013 at the Crosbyton First United Methodist Church with Rev. Judy Shema and Richard Horn officiating. Burial will follow in the Floydada Cemetery under the care of Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton. Van passed away on Friday, February 15, 2013 at Grace Medical Clinic in Lubbock. He was born on April 10, 1937 in South Plains, Texas to the late Ray E. and Helen McEwin Horn. On April 24, 1956 he married Susannah Brunson in Clovis, New Mexico. Van graduated from Lubbock High School in 1955 and served in the US Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of the Crosbyton First United Methodist Church and was a member of the Crosbyton Hospital Board for 25 years. He loved cooking and travelling. Van was a history enthusiast and had a lot of interest that he was well versed in. Van loved getting together with family and friends. He was preceded in death by a son, Van Horn, Jr. in 1989. Survivors include his wife Susannah of Crosbyton; two sons, Stanton Horn and Bick Horn both of Chino Valley, Ariz.; a daughter, Margaret Burton of Rockwall; a sister-in-law, Iris Hamerick and family of Cincinnati, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Ty Horn, Tanner Horn, Tiffanie McDaniel, Dani Horn, Brady Horn, Lacy Sperry, Josh Sperry, Gary Burton; and four great-grandchildren, Sadie, Sydney and Montana McDaniel and Jessy Jewel Sperry. The family suggests memorials to the Crosby County Food Bank, the Crosby County Library, or to the Crosbyton First United Methodist Church.
