David Eugene Brockman David Eugene Poss Brockman of Levelland, 84, died March 21, 2013 in Levelland, Texas. Services will be held Monday, March 25, 2013 at 2 p.m. at College Avenue Baptist Church in Levelland. Viewing will be today, March 23, 2013, from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m., on Sunday, March 24, 2013 from 1 p.m. until 9 p.m. in Head Duarte Funeral Home Chapel, and Monday, March 25, 2013 from 9 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at College Avenue Baptist Church. Family will receive relatives and friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday, March 24, 2013, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. in Head Duarte Funeral Home Chapel. Brother Bryan Simons of College Avenue Baptist Church will officiate. David Poss Brockman was born on Nov. 19, 1928 in Wills Point, Texas to Clifford and Dovie (Almond) Brockman. He was one of thirteen children. He joined the U.S. Army in 1946 and served in Germany during World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1949 as a Corporal. On Nov. 15, 1951, he married Patsy Cox in Lovington, N.M. and they moved to Shallowater. They later moved to Levelland and made it their permanent home. David retired from Standard Oil, later known as Amoco Production, after working there for thirty six years. He was an outgoing man who enjoyed hard work and taking care of his family. He was a humble person with a big and generous heart. He enjoyed the outdoors and was a big fisherman. David loved to reminisce with family and sing country western music with his family harmonizing to his karaoke singing. He loved spending time with his grandkids. He was always tinkering with anything he could and called himself a jack of all trades and a master of none. He was a Christian man that knew no strangers, but if he met a stranger he would give them the coat off of his back. He has gone home to be with the love of his life. His memory will be cherished by his children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by a host of relatives and friends. Survivors include three sons, James Clifford Brockman (Eva Sue), David William Brockman (Darlene), and Garland Wayne Brockman (Stephanie Renee) all of Levelland; three daughters, Betty Jo Brackens (Luther), Patsy Phipps, both of Levelland, and Patricia Jean Moore (Jerry) of San Angelo; 21 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; 18 great- great grandchildren; four brothers, Benny Brockman of Horsehoe Bay, Texas, Bill Brockman of Brady, Texas, Don Brockman, and Robert Brockman, both of Abilene, Texas; sisters, Connie Shifflet of Milford, Texas and Kathryn Belcher of Abilene, Texas He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford Cornelius and Dovie Etta Brockman; two sisters, Madia Scott and Doris Miller; and four brothers, Garland Brockman, Johnny Brockman, Jerry Brockman and Sonny Brockman Pallbearers will be Donald Agnew, James Foster, Glenn Nichols, Coy Pigg, Kenneth Posey, Mike Roberts, Floyd Robinson, and Jeff Williams. Interment will be at the City of Levelland Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Head Duarte Funeral Home of Levelland, Texas.
