Delbert Del Cox LUBBOCK-Delbert Del Cox returned home to be with the Lord, Sunday, March 17, 2013. Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life of 86 years at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2013, at First Baptist Church, Lubbock, followed by visitation in the church parlor. Delbert Ray Cox was born on April 2, 1926, to the Reverend A.L. and Mary E. Cox in Evansville, Ind. He served in the United States Navy
during World War II
. Del earned multiple degrees at the University of Missouri, Rolla: Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering (1949), Master of Science in engineering physics (1951), and honorary degree for professional achievement and outstanding service (1969). On Jan. 21, 1950, Del married the love of his life, Doris M. Sims, in Murphysboro, Ill. He was instrumental in milestones and landmark achievements of the aerospace industry during his 40-plus year career with McDonnell Douglas Corporation. He was an engineer by occupation. Del was defined by who he was. He committed his daily life to God, and was devoted to his family as a husband, friend, dad, hero, best man and Two-Dad. Survivors include his wife, Doris; his children, Deborah Ashby and husband, James, and Thomas L. Cox and wife, Kristy Joy Tipton; and his grandchildren, Christopher M.
