Diane Brockman

Diane Brockman POST-Diane Brockman, 60, of Post died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014, in Lubbock at the Heart Hospital. Celebration of life service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, in the Graham Chapel United Methodist Church. Arrangements are under the personal care of Dee and Janet Justice, Justice-Mason Funeral Home. Diane was born March 27, 1953, to John Carroll and Ramona Joyce (Peacock) Brockman in Graham, Texas. Diane and her family lived in Graham, Woodson, Temple, and Throckmorton, before coming to Post. Diane attended Post schools and graduated Post High in 1971. She married Robbie Gene King and he preceded her in death March 7, 2011. Over the years, Diane worked for Cal-Maine Egg Farms, Weldon's Construction, George's Construction, and the Dalby Correctional Facility. Diane was a Christian and was a member of The Ladies Auxiliary of the Miller/Luman VFW Post 6797. She was a patient mother, grandmother, and friend. She loved fishing, quilting, cooking, and helping others out in any way possible. She taught her grandchildren and many others how to fish over the years. Diane was preceded in death by her parents; daughter-in-law, Amanda King; and a grandchild, Machelle Martin-Macum. Survivors include her son, Jeremy Stumpy King of Post; two stepdaughters, Gaynell Carter of Lubbock, and Melanie Fortenberry and husband, all of Lubbock; one brother, Claton Brockman and his wife Cheryl of Taft; two sisters, Janice Branson of Lubbock, and Sherry Winters and husband Bill of Cheyene, Wyo.; grandchildren, Brazos King, Dylan and Dakota Greer, Rusty and Leslie Workman, Brynn Ireland, Shawn and Haley Thomas, and Michael Fortenberry; great-grandchildren, Reagan and Roan Workman and Tripp Polson; nephews, Glen, Shane, Tony, Josh Branson, Little Bill, and Nathan Winters; nieces, Jamie, Amanda, and Samantha Winters. Honorary pallbearers will be all friends old and young alike. Greetings of friends will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW Miller/Lumen Post 6797 of Post.
