Fermin Edward Escareno Jr. LUBBOCK-Funeral Mass for Fermin Edward Escareno Jr., 68, of Lubbock will be celebrated today at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Monsignor Jim O Connor officiating. Military honors burial will be in Plainview Cemetery under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home and Chapel. Fermin passed away on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, in Amarillo, Texas. He was born on July 21, 1944, to the late Fermin Sr. and Maria Escareno in Saginaw, Mich. He married Erminia Vidales on Jan. 6, 2007, in Lubbock. He served in the US Army. He was a Vietnam veteran Sergeant in the Amor Division. He was a machine operator for the Farmers Coop. He was a lifelong resident of Lubbock. He is survived by his wife, Erminia of Lubbock; eight sons, Johnny Escareno, Robert Escareno, Ricardo Contreras, Fabian Contreras, Eddie Contreras, Juan Contreras, Guadalupe Contreras and Mario Contreras, all of Lubbock; two daughters, Paula Escareno of Altus, Okla., and Rosita Servatius of Lubbock; and two sisters, Sandra Blackmon of Austin and Gloria Martin of North Hollywood, Calif. He had seven grandchildren.
