G.P. Driskill

G. P. Driskill TURKEY- Funeral services for G. P. Driskill, Jr. will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Turkey Church of Christ with Stuart Smith, minister, officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery under direction of Moore-Rose Funeral Home. G. P. died Saturday, November 3, 2012, in Amarillo, Texas. He was born on February 8, 1923, near Happy, Texas to Gilbert Preston and Willie Driskill. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from November of 1942 to December of 1945 as an Electrician's Mate Second Class. After the service he moved to Turkey, Texas, where he met and married Betty Jean Cruse on May 12, 1946 and they were blessed to celebrated 66 years of marriage this last May. He owned and operated Panhandle Oil Company in Turkey for 25 years and then worked in cash register repairs for several years. G. P. was a member of the Turkey Church of Christ and served as an elder for 42 years. He is survived by his wife, Betty; son, David and Kathy Driskill of Canyon, Texas; daughter, Jeanne and Mike Coy of Hubbard, Texas; daughter, Jana and Ronnie Carpenter of Quitaque, Texas; seven grandchildren, Amy and Jeff Grimland, Jason and Brittany Payne, Josh and Brittney Coy, Amber Coy, Megan and Jason Golden, Sara and Eric Stocker, Libby and Brec Brackett; twelve great-grandchildren, Elise and Michael Grimland, Ryan Coy and Bailey Ellison, Brynn Coy, Wyatt, Jack, Rachel and Allie Golden, Nicholas and Easton Stocker, Hope Brackett, and Jayleigh Payne to be born in February.
