James Raymond Supak BRYAN- James Raymond Supak, 74, of Bryan passed away at his home surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 18, 2013 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 2541 Earl Rudder Fwy, College Station, TX 77845, with Rev. Kurtis Wiedenfeld officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home with a vigil service at 5:30 p.m. under the direction of Hillier Funeral Home, 2301 E. 29th Street, Bryan, TX 77802. Burial will be at the College Station City Cemetery following the funeral mass. He attended Texas A&M University
from 1962-1971 where he earned B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Plant and Soil Science, Soil Chemistry, and Soil Chemistry and Mineralogy, respectively. Dr. Supak joined the Texas Agricultural Extension Service (TAES) in Lubbock, TX as an Extension Agronomist in 1972. He became the Extension Cotton Specialist for the High Plains in 1974 and served in that capacity until he accepted the State Extension Cotton Specialist position in College Station in 1992. He retired from TAES in January 2001, as a respected colleague, mentor and friend to farmers across the state. James is survived by his second wife of four years of marriage, Pat Chaffin Supak of Bryan; one son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Amy Supak of Washington, Ill.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Brian Walter of Dallas, Texas, Janet and Randy Koslovsky of Carrollton, Texas, Laura and Mark Morgan of Waxahachie, Texas, two brothers, John and Frank Supak; four sisters, Marilyn Rapp, Ellen Blank, JoAnne Hromadka, and Elaine Reeves; and ten grandchildren, Cassandra, Talon, Brandon, Ashlyn, Kimberly, Whitney, Benjamin, Luke, Kate, and Amber. He was an inspiration to all who knew him and will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 39 years, Pat Supak and both of his parents, John and Valasta Supak. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts may be made to the James R. Supak, PhD '66, and Patricia A. Supak President's Endowed Scholarship Fund at the Texas A&M Foundation.
