Joyce Burroughs LUBBOCK- Joyce Burroughs of Lubbock, Texas passed away in her home, surrounded by her loving family, under the care of Hospice of Lubbock after a lengthy illness on Sunday, November 18, 2012. Joyce was born in O'Donnell, Texas to John and Rosie Beckham on April 29, 1933. She graduated from Lubbock High School and continued her education at Abilene Christian University. Joyce met and married the love of her life Neal Burroughs on July 31, 1954. Joyce retired from Plains Cotton Cooperative Association, where she was the Payroll Supervisor. She loved sewing, needlepoint work, painting, wood carving, her family and her church, where she was an active member of Methodist Women. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Damon Andrews of Lubbock; a stepdaughter and son-in-law, LaNeil and Jim Banks of Wichita, Kansas; stepson, Neal Burroughs, Jr.; two brothers, John Hewlett of Lubbock and Glenn Boyett of Florence, Ore.; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, Lynn Burroughs; three sisters; and two brothers. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, November 25, 2012 at Combest Family Funeral Homes. Services will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, November 26, 2012 at St. Matthew United Methodist Church, 5320 50th Street, with Rob Lindley officiating. Interment will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery. Joyce's family wishes to acknowledge the wonderful care, both physical and emotional, provided to her by her longtime physician, Dr. Mark Scioli, Beyond Faith Home Health, Dr. Jeremy Brown, and Hospice of Lubbock.
