Kyle Kucauskas Averitte LUBBOCK-Kyle Kucauskas Averitte went home to the Lord Sunday, March 24, 2013. Kyle was born in Lubbock, Texas, in 1972. He moved to Amarillo, Texas, in 1985 and graduated from Amarillo High School. While in High School, Kyle worked at the Randall County Sheriff's Office, where he developed his love for law enforcement. Kyle graduated from the Amarillo College Police Academy in 1993 and was certified as a Texas Peace Officer. Kyle worked for the Amarillo College Police department, Plainview Police Department and Texas Tech University Police Department, and was chief of police in Ralls, Texas. In 2001, Kyle became a police officer
for the City of Murphy police department and was with Murphy Police Department until his death. While with the Murphy police department, Kyle served as a patrolman, detective and a sergeant, and he was scheduled to attend the Leadership Command College. Kyle is survived by his parents, Clint and Vicki Averitte of Amarillo; grandmothers, Alice Johnson and Norma Kucauskas of Lubbock; grandfather, Keith Averitte of Fort Worth; and aunts and uncles, Sandy and Dean Koetting, Ann and Buddy Ross, Kay and Don Cunningham, Phyllis and Ron Brown of Lubbock, Pat and Mark Averitte, Tammy and Les Averitte, and Kendra Averitte of Fort Worth. Kyle is also survived by a number of cousins, but had a special bond with cousins Lauren and Michael Koetting. He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Kucauskas; grandmother, Betty Averitte; grandfather, Floyd Johnson and Joe Kucauskas; and great-grandmother, Sue Brown. . Services celebrating his life will be held today at 1 p.m. in Resthaven's Abbey Chapel with Dr. Murray Gossett officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park with the Rev. Monsignor Eugene Driscoll officiating.
