Morene M. French

Morene M. French LUBBOCK-Morene M. French, 87, of Lubbock went home to her Heavenly Father on Jan. 7, 2013. She was born on Oct. 2, 1925, in Munday, Texas, to Walter A. and Ara (Brooks) Womack. Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Luke's United Methodist Church with the Rev. Andy Hurst and the Rev. Don Kinder, both with St. Luke's UMC, officiating. Burial will be in City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Franklin-Bartley Funeral Home. Mrs. French was the salutatorian of the 1942 class of Cooper High School. She was a longtime member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Home Demonstration Club in New Deal and had owned Morene's Antiques for many years. She married C. Emory French on July 30, 1943, in Lubbock. He preceded her in death on Sept. 15, 2012, after 69 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Arlene in 1950. Mrs. French is survived by her two sons, Gary Don and Melody French of Amarillo, and Tommy Ray and Rita French of Richmond, Va.; daughter, Shirley Schwertner and David of Lubbock; nephew, Dale and Becky Gamble of Slaton; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to St. Luke's United Methodist Church.
