Ophelia Denise Cleveland

Ophelia Denise Cleveland LUBBOCK-Ophelia Denise Cleveland, affectionately known as PheeBee, 43, of Lubbock, passed away on March 25, 2014. She was born on July 23, 1970, in Lubbock, Texas, to the parentage of Wilford and Chaney Hall. She was the first born of three kids. At an early age she united with First Progressive Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of H.L. Avery Sr. Ophelia attended school in Lubbock and graduated from Estacado High School. She completed two years of college at South Plains. Later she moved to Abilene, Texas, and married Robert Cleveland. She entered into the Army while in Abilene. Ophelia served in the United States Army for over 20 years, during which they were blessed with two sons, Phesay and Semaj Cleveland. Later she adopted Jacob to the family. She achieved numerous awards and medals while serving in the military, and traveled to South Korea, Germany, Iraq, and several other places. She was a leader to many and friend to all. In the last years of her military career Ophelia fell ill. She became part of the Fort Hood Warrior Transition Brigade, relocated to Waco, Texas, and continued serving her Lord and Savior. She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents; three aunts; three uncles and many comrades. She leaves to cherish her memories: spouse, Robert Cleveland; three sons, Phesay (Ashlee), Semaj, and Jacob Cleveland; one grandchild, Aubree Cleveland; parents, Wilford and Chaney Hall; seven brothers, Wilford Jr., Kevin, Jonathan, Harrison, Albert, Christopher, Kevon; two sisters, Kiaira and Alexis Hall; three great aunts, Nina Davis, Leona Simone, and Willie B. Simone; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; special friends and thanks to: Sharquinta Slaughter, Paula Johnson, Fort Hood Warrior Transition Brigade, and Sergeant West. Celebration of life services will be held on Thursday, April 3, 2014, at 1 p.m. at First Progressive Baptist Church. Interment will follow at City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. at Griffin Mortuary.
