Ronald Darryl Hewett

Ronald Darryl Hewett LUBBOCK-Ronald Darryl Hewett passed away Sunday, May 11, 2014. Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life of 53 years on Friday, May 16, 2014, at 3 p.m. at Forrest Heights United Methodist Church. Ronald Darryl was born on April 19, 1961, to William and Valencia Airhart Hewett in Lubbock, Texas. He graduated from Coronado High School in 1979 and received his Eagle Scout Award from Troop 530. He attended Sul Ross State University. Ron received an Associate's Degree in Oceanology from College of Oceaneering and deep sea diving certification, then started working for Offshore Petroleum Divers in Sabine, Texas. During this period he served in the U. S. Marine Corps and received an honorable discharge. He was employed by Texas Tech University as a supervisor at the Power Plant for the last 17 years. Survivors include his daughter, Heather Wilkerson and husband Lonnie; grandson, Donovan Wilkerson; parents, William and Valencia Hewett; sister, Sandra K. Hewett; and his uncle, Keith (Nancy) Hewett; uncle, Gayland (Netty) Hewett; and uncle, Jerry (Zela) Airhart; with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, James R. Hewett; grandparents, Russell and Ione Hewett, and James B. and Martha Airhart. Memorial contributions may be sent to Forrest Heights UMC to the Good Samaritan Fund.
