Shannon Keltz

Shannon J. Keltz LUBBOCK- Shannon J. Keltz died November 14, 2012. He was born September 26, 1918 in Chicago Heights, Ill. to the late C.M. and Lulu Alexander Keltz. He married Ruth Mae Alred in October 1942. He volunteered for the Army Air Corps and was sent with the group to open Lubbock Army Flying School (now Reese). He served in the South Pacific during WWII as a top turret gunner on a B24. Shannon had been a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years. He served as presiding officer of Yellowhouse Lodge, Hugh J. McClellan Chapter and Council, Lubbock Commandery. He was in the group who brought the Scottish Rite to Lubbock and served as the first treasurer. He was a thirty-third degree since 1977. He was an Advisory Director of the Scottish Rite Learning Center of West Texas. He was Past Sovereign of Red Cross of Constantine and Recorder for over 40 yrs. He was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers. He is survived by his wife; two nieces; and four nephews. He donated his body to Texas Tech Health Sciences Center, a Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the Scottish Rite Learning Center, 1101 70th St. Lubbock, TX 79412. He was a member of the greatest generation!
