Weldon Neale "Pete" Drennon

Weldon Neale Pete Drennon HURST-Weldon Neale Pete Drennon completed his journey to take his place in the Heavenly realm on Jan. 22, 2014. What most will associate with Pete is his service to others. After graduating from Texas A&M University in 1953, he served in the United States Air Force, attaining the rank of First Lieutenant. That same year he married Peggy Jean Herring, his bride of 60 years. Known as Pete and Peg, they were seldom referred to individually. Generously serving family, friends, church, and community without needing recognition, they became models of selflessness for three generations of family. Raised in Waco, Texas, Pete moved his family to California, Florida, west Texas, New Mexico, and eventually back to the DFW region. Pete worked for the majority of his life in service with the US Housing and Urban Development (HUD). In retirement he enjoyed golf, breakfast with buddies, keeping up with his grandchildren, working with the local food bank, helping Homes for Humanities, and, as an avid wood worker, building furniture and crafts. A celebration of Pete's life will be held in the church where he served as an active member after moving to the mid-cities, and where many friendships most dear to him were formed, on 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at First United Methodist Church, 521 W. Pipeline Rd., Hurst, TX 76053. Pete's children Michael, Patrick, and Cynthia (Bell), along with their extended families, request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a in tribute to Pete's service to others.
