Arlis Ehlers SLATON- Services for Arlis Ehlers, 73, of Slaton and formerly of Wilson will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013 at Wilson's St. John Lutheran Church with Tonda Frietag PLM and Chaplain Elizabeth Abrahams officiating. Burial will follow at Green Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton. Arlis was born Aug. 8, 1939 in Lynn County. He passed from this life Feb. 24, 2013. Arlis grew up in Wilson and graduated from Wilson High School in 1958. He attended Texas Tech before marrying Geneva Wuensche on Jan. 7, 1961 in Wilson. They farmed in Lynn County, owned The Flower Patch and Panhandler Custom Vans. Arlis retired from Slaton Gas & Equipment. He was preceded in de ath by his parents, Herbert and Edna Ehlers; brothers, Milton Ehlers and Jimmy Allen Ehlers; sister, Karon Ehlers; grandson, Joshua Moore in 1989; father-in-law, Wilbert Wuensche in 2008; as well as his special four legged companion, Bandit. Those who will cherish his memory include his wife, Geneva; sons, Gordon Ehlers and wife, Trina Ann all of Slaton, and Greg Ehlers and wife, Beckie of Early; daughter, Donna Ehlers Moore of Lubbock; brother, Ray Ehlers of Lubbock; sisters, Onita Steinhauser of Wilson and Verlene Stegemoeller of Rochester; grandchildren, Chris Moore, Landon Ehlers, April Ehlers, Jessica Moore, Emily Ehlers and Griffin Ehlers; great-granddaughter, D'Kota Moore; mother-in-law, Lorena Wuensche of Slaton; and son-in-law, Randy Moore. The family suggests memorials to St. John Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 7, Wilson, TX 79381 or Hospice of Lubbock, 3702 21st Street, Lubbock, TX 79410. They family expresses their special appreciation to Hospice of Lubbock, Darla and Diana for their care and compassion. There will be a family visitation at the funeral home tonight, Feb. 26, 2013, from 6 to 7 p.m.
