Bobby Bob Murdock DIMMITT-Bobby Bob Murdock, 77, of Dimmitt passed away on Dec. 11, 2012, in Amarillo. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at 10 a.m. in the 4th and Bedford Church of Christ with Mr. James Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home. Family visitation will be held today from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Bob was born on Oct. 7, 1935, in Sudan, Texas, to Robert L. and Zona Robinson Murdock. He grew up in Littlefield, Texas, graduated from Littlefield High School, and was an All-State football player for the Littlefield Wildcats. His childhood friend was Waylon Jennings. He married Wanda Felder on Oct. 20, 1956, in Hart, Texas. Bob enjoyed coaching little league baseball and Kids Inc. basketball, and was a huge supporter of Dimmitt athletics. He played for the American Legion Baseball League in Plainview. He was employed with Southwestern Public Service for 41 years before his retirement in 2000. Bob served on the Dimmitt Volunteer Fire Dept. for many years and served as fire chief; he was a member of the Kiwanis Club and served as president several times; was a member of the Dimmitt City Council for 12 years; and was selected as Citizen of the Year in 1982. He was a member of the 4th and Bedford Church of Christ for many years. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren play sports and other activities. He is survived by his wife, Wanda Murdock of Dimmitt; one son, Brad Murdock and his wife Rhonda of Clovis, N.M., and one daughter, Debbie Smith and her husband Doug of Amarillo; five grandchildren;, Tasha Vice, Holly Beard, Alyson Smith, Katie Wyatt and Jody Murdock; and six great-grandchildren, Nick Beard, Peyton Vice, Hayden Beard, Chance Beard, Grady Beard and Liberty Anna Vice.
