Burnie Obbie Goolsby LUBBOCK- Burnie Obbie Goolsby passed on March 7, 2013. He was born on Sept. 20, 1926 in Wichita Falls. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Geneva Howard Goolsby; a son, Dr. Jerry R. Goolsby of New Orleans; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. His daughter, Teresa Gail Perry of Bryant, Ark., preceded him in death. He was a loyal member of the Masonic Lodge, achieving 32nd degree status and serving in many roles, including Worshipful Master. He worked for the High Plains Underground Water Conservation District, assisting farmers throughout the region in conserving water and capping of dangerous abandoned wells. He served in the Navy in WWII. He was admired and respected by everyone with whom he came in contact. His West Texas wisdom was the stuff of legend, as he could take any situation and reduce its essence to a few powerful words stripped of complexity and waxed with a veneer of elegance. Services will be held at Sanders Funeral Home at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 11, 2013 with interment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park to follow with a Masonic burial service. Family will receive friends at Sanders Funeral Home today from 4 until 6 p.m.
