Coy Short Lee Howard BENBROOK-Coy Howard, 67, passed Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at a hospice after a long illness. Funeral will be 12:30 p.m. Saturday in Laurel Land Memorial Chapel. Interment will be in Laurel Land Memorial Park of Fort Worth. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. today, Dec. 7, at Laurel Land Funeral Home. Coy was born June 30, 1945, in Portales, N.M., to Ernest and Eula Howard. He attended Portales schools and served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam during 1964-1967 with an honorable discharge. He retired from the auto sales business and was an avid team roper with lots of wonderful friends in the arena. Survivors include his loving wife of 28 years, Dee Howard; daughters, Megan Howard, and Cindy Thompson Bowden and husband, Russ, of Richardson; grandsons, Cael, Austin and Gavin; Cindy's mother, Stephanie Stevie Strassner of Dallas; brothers, Buttons Howard and wife, Judy, of Lubbock, and Paul Howard and wife, Pate, of Canyon; sister, Sharon Barker of Colorado; many loving nieces and nephews; and uncle, Dub Pearson and wife, Johnnie.
