Cynthia Hollis LUBBOCK-Cynthia Hollis of Wolfforth went to be with the Lord on Nov. 24, 2012, at Covenant Medical Center at the age of 65. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, in Resthaven Memorial Park. The family will be at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. for visitation on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012. Born in Fall River, Mass., on April 18, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Natalie M. and Edward E. Michel. Cynthia graduated from the Dominican Academy, followed by the Union Hospital School of Nursing, and the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Allied Health. She was a lifelong member of the First Congregational Church in Fall River. She is remembered in her 40-year career by generations of nursing colleagues, and students as a trusted mentor and friend, by thousands of former patients as a compassionate and gifted nurse, and by her loving family and friends as a person of great generosity, empathy and humor. She is survived by her husband, John Mattos of Wolfforth; her children, Nathan and Lori Hollis of Lubbock, and Amy Steen of Jefferson City, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Ashley Hollis, Brianna Hollis, Tyler Hollis and Britta Conley; two sisters, Judith Armstrong and Donna Falcon, both of Massachusetts; and several niece and nephews. She was preceded in death in 2007 by her 18-year-old grandson, Jeremy Hollis. Memorials are suggested to the Covenant Foundation, 3623 22nd Place, Lubbock, TX 79410.
