Donald Jay Shipman LUBBOCK-Memorial services for Donald Jay Shipman, 70, of Lubbock will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012, at the Fellowship Church of Lubbock, 6104 45th Street, with the Reverend John Valentine officiating. At his request, Don's remains were donated to the Texas Tech Health Science Program. Our beloved Pops went to be with our Heavenly Father on Sept. 17, 2012, at home with his family. Donald was born March 23, 1942, in Raton, N.M., to Melvin and Mary Ellen Shipman. He was raised in Albuquerque and later moved to Amarillo, where he graduated from Amarillo High School in 1960. Donald graduated from Texas Tech University in 1969 with his bachelor's degree in civil engineering. He married Regina Boyd on Aug. 26, 1966, in Amarillo. Donald was employed by TxDOT from 1964 until 1998. After retiring, he made his home in Lubbock, Texas. Don was an active member of Fellowship Church of Lubbock. Loved ones include his wife; daughter, Christi Salyer and husband Shane; sons, Kevin and Jonathan Shipman; grandchildren, Maddie, Jake and Carley Salyer, and Hagan and Dyson Shipman; brother, Ronnie Shipman; and sister, Elaine Smith. Don's greatest pleasure was spending time with his family. He loved to attend his grandchildren's activities and would rarely miss one of their sporting events. Memorials are suggested to the
