North Richland Hills - Eldon Kenneth Turner, 89, Lt. Col. U.S. Air Force (retired), completed his final flight on September 2, 2017. Although he was a Command Pilot when he served in the USAF, for his final flight he sat in the co-pilot seat. The Lord was the Commander of this flight.

A memorial service will be held October 14, 2017 at Legacy Church of Christ, 8801 Mid Cities Blvd, North Richland Hills TX 76182 at 2:00 p.m.

Eldon is survived by his wife, Ruedele, daughter Lanese, husband Jim Staab, daughter Verlaine, son Bryn and wife Cynthia Snell. Four grand-children complete his immediate family. Eldon and Ruedele recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.

During his 28 years of service in the Air Force, Eldon proudly served this country primarily in the United States, Philippines, Vietnam and Germany. He logged 5,800 hours flying time during his career and piloted 14 different aircraft. Eldon and the family moved 19 times during their life together, with the longest residences being Albuquerque NM, San Pedro CA and Lubbock TX before their final move to North Richland Hills.

Eldon was active in several organizations: Legacy Church of Christ, Air Force Association, Daedalians (an fraternity of military pilots), North Richland Hills Home Owners Association, Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity and the Masonic Lodge. Despite his Air Force career requiring several extended separations from the family, his devotion to them was enduring. His main focus was on a quality education for the children and supporting church and school activities.

In lieu of flowers, a lasting tribute in his memory to Legacy Church of Christ or the Texas Air Force Aerospace Education Foundation, c/o Ric Hamer,11965 Remington Lane, Frisco TX 75033-7634 is suggested by the family.

Eldon's enjoyment of life was matched only by the love he showered on his family.
