Evelyn Gay Simpson LUBBOCK-Evelyn Gay Simpson departed this life Nov. 17, 2012. Graveside services are 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, in Resthaven Cemetery under the direction of Rix Funeral Home. She was born June 27, 1920, in Ballinger, Texas, to Carl McAden and Leska Mansker McAden. She married Fred L. Simpson March 1, 1942, who preceded her in death in 2003. Survivors include her daughter, Cindy Shacklette and husband Ben; granddaughter, Sarah Watts and husband Eric; three great-granddaughters, Emily Wirth, and Addison and Aubrey Watts, all of Lubbock; and one sister, Edith Swift of Sunrise Beach, Texas. Evelyn was a housewife, a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and was loved by everyone who knew her. She was a talented artist. She loved to cook for family and friends, and made everyone feel welcomed in her home. All who knew her were touched by her great strength; her love of faith, family and friends; and the optimism and courage she showed throughout her life.
