Gene Biles Obituary

Gene Biles LUBBOCK- Gene Biles, 86, passed from this life on Wednesday, March 27, 2013. Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life of 86 years at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 30 at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. A tribute of Mr. Biles may be found at www.memorialdesigners.net, where you may leave memories and expressions of sympathy for his family. Eugene Roy was born in Paoli, Okla. to Roy Wesley and Bessie Mae Biles. He married Mozell Katherine Kirk in Anton, Texas in June 1947, giving them 65 loving years together. Gene served in the U.S. Army during WWII and fought on Okinawa. He bragged of farming the land where the Texas Tech campus now sits. He worked for Time DC Freight for 25 years, then for Consolidated Freightways for 10 years before retiring. During retirement, Gene spent half of the years fishing and gardening at Lake Livingston, where he also worked on a dream vacation house. Here, he gathered his family for annual family reunions that will still continue in his honor. Survivors include his wife, Mozell; and their children, Kathy Vernon and husband, Jerry, Donna Tidwell and husband, Mark, Lloyd Biles and wife, Tracy, Evelyn Gibbs and husband, Mark, and Norma Biles. Gene is also survived by his grandchildren, Chris Biles and wife, Laura, Nick Biles and wife, Leandra, Laura Brown and husband, Josh, Kim Flowers and husband, Robert, Kelly Rayburn and husband James, Kayla Minter and husband, Jason, Timothy Eugene Tidwell and wife, Janna, Todd Tidwell and wife, Aileen, Troy Tidwell, Natalie Biles, Morgan Biles, Katherine Gibbs, and Austin Gibbs; and great-grandchildren, Clara, Jodie, Layne, Cate, Olivia, Elissa, Teagan, Matti, Keely, Jordan, Nora, Slade, Mason, Rissa, and Duncan. His sisters, Lorene Mason and Ruth Wimberly and husband, Bill, are also survivors. Gene was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Gene Biles, who died on Jan. 30, 2011.
