Glenda Bownds Edwards SLATON-Glenda Edwards, 68, of Slaton, died on March 12, 2013, in Tucson, Ariz. Glenda was born in Levelland to Bill and Marcie Ward Bownds, but resided in Slaton for 67 years and graduated from Slaton High School in 1963. Glenda married James Ronald Edwards on July 5, 1963, in Slaton. They owned and operated Edwards Redi-Mix Concrete Co. since 1975. Her favorite hobbies included golf, travel, sports, kids and grandkids' sports activities. She is survived by her husband, Ron of the home; two sons, Collin and wife Carrie, and Lanny and wife Jamie, both of Lubbock; her mother, Marcie Bownds of Slaton; brothers, Jack and wife Joyce of Lubbock, Kelly of Slaton, and Billy and wife Pat of Plainview; a sister, Peggy Brown of Glendale, Ariz.; five grandchildren; and 49 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Bill Bownds of Slaton, and brother, Rudy Bownds of Lake Kemp. Funeral services for Glenda will be on Saturday, March 16, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Slaton. Interment will follow in Englewood Cemetery, under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service, Inc. Memorial donations may be sent to Slaton Meals on Wheels at 230 W. Lynn, or to the First Baptist Church of Slaton at 255 S. 9th, Slaton, TX 79364.
