Hazel Connolly TAHOKA-Hazel Mary Connolly of Lewisville, formerly of Tahoka, passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at the age of 90. She was born June 13, 1922, in Hugo, Okla., to Charles and Nevada (Leathers) Clem. Hazel worked as the city secretary in Tahoka for 22 years and served as president of the South Plains Association of City Clerks and Secretaries from 1978-1980. She married Robert Clark Connolly on March 10, 1945. She was a member of the Tahoka Church of Christ. Those left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Judy Barker and husband Russell of Garland, Texas, and Joan Shipley and husband Mac of Little Elm, Texas; brother, Vernon Clem and wife Dolly of Lubbock; grandson, Duane Leverett of Dallas, Texas; and great-granddaughter, Belen Leverett of Denver, Colo. Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; husband; five brothers, Urcie, Cecil, Weir, Gayle and Roland Clem; and two sisters, Lela Huntley and Patsy Sherrill. Visitation will be 12 to 8 p.m. today, March 15, 2013, at Combest Family Funeral Homes with the family receiving friends 5 to 7 p.m. Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2013, at Tahoka Church of Christ with interment to follow in Tahoka Cemetery.
