Ira Vance Bell LUBBOCK-Ira Vance Bell, 89, of Lubbock died Oct. 7, 2013, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas. Vance graduated from Center High School and attended the University of Texas in Austin. He married Velma Kirkley in 1949, at the Church of Christ in Center, Texas, and together they had a son, Steven Bell. Vance farmed and raised cattle for many years before getting involved in the livestock feed industry. The family moved to Lubbock in the late 60s, where Vance worked for Moorman Feed Co. Velma was a math teacher at Lubbock Christian School, then Smylie Wilson Jr. High and later Coronado High School. Vance and Velma were members of Green Lawn Church of Christ. Vance was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Velma Bell, who died July 4, 2012. Vance is survived by his son, Steven Bell of Arlington, Texas, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Special thanks to the many friends and health care providers that assisted Vance and Velma, especially Garrison Center, Carillon, Covenant Medical Center and Covenant Palliative Care Unit.
