Jack Alton Brashear LUBBOCK-Services to celebrate the life of Jack Alton Brashear, 83, will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at First Christian Church with Dr. David Mindel and the Reverend Jim Bales officiating. Family visitation will be held at Sanders Funeral Home on Wednesday, Dec. 5, at 7 p.m. Jack was born in Lubbock on June 8, 1929, to Glenn Howard Brashear and Lora Mae Harvey Brashear. He graduated from Petersburg High School in 1947 and attended McMurray College in Abilene and Texas Tech University in Lubbock. He worked for Brashear Hardware in Crosbyton and retired from the U.S. Postal Service in Lubbock as a bulk mail technician in 1990. He raised his family in Crosbyton in the 1960s, where he coached Little League baseball (for both boys and girls), was active in the Jaycees, and served as president of the Crosbyton Chamber of Commerce. He moved to Lubbock in 1974 and became a member of First Christian Church, where he worked in various ministries and served as chairman of the elders in 2000-2001. Survivors include his wife, Syble; his daughter, Kay and husband Alton Trull of Denton; his son, Ken and wife Cindy Brashear of Wolfforth; granddaughter, Lora and husband Andrew McCall of Richardson; grandson, Dr. Tim Trull and wife Evelyn of Plano; great-grandsons, Dalton, Quinn and Rowan McCall; great-granddaughter, Zara Trull; and sister-in-law, Mary Jane Brashear of Hale Center. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Keith Brashear. Survivors also include stepchildren, Brett Brock and wife Toni of Dallas, Jessica Castro and husband Frank of Lubbock, and Ty Brock and wife Carol of Lubbock, and grandchildren, Seth, Taylor, Anna, Austin, Hunter, Mason and Simon. Jack was deeply loved by his family and will be greatly missed. The family suggests memorials to the Benevolence Program at First Christian Church, 2323 Broadway, Lubbock, TX 79401.
