James H. Murdough Jr. LUBBOCK-James H. Murdough Jr., was born Oct. 1, 1922, to Eva Simpson Parsons and J.H. Murdough in Stillwater, Okla. He passed away Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013. He moved to Lubbock in September 1925, attended Lubbock public schools and graduated from Texas Tech University. He served three years in the Army Corps of Engineers in World War II. He married Emily Cowan Vernon and they were married for 53 years. He worked in the cotton business in Brownfield and Lubbock. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Emily; and one daughter, Cathy Shields. He is survived by one son, Conrad Vernon and wife Linda of Burnet, Texas; one daughter, Marianne Foster of Edmond, Okla.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A family graveside service will be held at a later date. Visitation and open house will be at his residence from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013.
