Jim N. Roberts LOCKNEY- A memorial service for Jim N. Roberts will be held at 2 p.m. today, February 12, 2013 at the South Plains Baptist Church with Bro. Joe Weldon officiating. Jim was born March 30, 1937, in Amarillo, Texas to V.N and Pearl Roberts and died February 8, 2013 in Lockney. He moved to California at the age of 3 years. He graduated from Merced, California High School and returned to Texas in 1956 where he met and married Peggy Epperson on July 20, 1957. Two children were born of this union, a daughter, Cari, and a son, Terry. Jim worked in the cotton gin and grain elevator business most of his adult life and had many hobbies, fishing, hunting, tennis, softball, and gardening. He also enjoyed flying and obtained his pilot license in 1969. He was a loving husband and father, soft-hearted, good-natured, hard working, fair and honest. He is survived by his wife of 55 and a half years, Peggy, of the home; son, Terry of Justiceberg, Texas; daughter, Cari and husband Brett Spiares of Katy, Texas; four grandsons, Lane Roberts of Lamesa, Texas, Dane Roberts of Norman, Okla., James Spiares of Denton, Texas, and David Spiares of Katy, Texas; three sisters, Mary Wedell of Auburn, Calif., Norma Chapman of Phoenix, Ariz. and Linda Black of Winslow, Ariz.; a brother, Bill of Troy, Mo.; and six great-grandchildren.
