Joe Alexander Middleton LUBBOCK-Joe Alexander Middleton, 74, of Lubbock, passed away on April 26, 2013. Joe was born on November 19, 1938, to the parentage of John and Lucille Dawson Middleton in Austin, Texas. Joe was raised in Lubbock and graduated from Dunbar High School in 1958. He served in the U.S. Army from June 3, 1960 to June 2, 1966. Joe received an honorable discharge from the military. Joe joined Betty Elizabeth Jenkins in holy matrimony on September 22, 1990 in Amarillo, Texas. Joe was employed for many years as a manager at the Piggly Wiggly supermarket. He also worked for Warner Lambert and was self-employed in his later life. Joe became a member of Greater St. Luke Baptist Church at an early age. He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Betty; four sons, Joe Jr. Dee, Joel Sherrion, Rodney, and Brandon; two daughters, Sandra and Camille; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Octavia Givens R.J. and Grace Lois Pierce; and a host of other relatives and friends. Celebration of life services will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at 11 a.m., at Greater St. Luke Baptist Church. Interment will follow at City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Visitation will be held today, from 1 to 6 p.m. at Griffin Mortuary.
