Johnnie Mae Carlisle ROCHESTER-Graveside services for Johnnie Mae Carlisle, 94, of Anton, who passed away Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, in Lubbock, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, in Rochester Cemetery in Rochester, Texas. She was born May 4, 1918, in Erath County, Texas, to Jessie and Tommie Duncan. Johnnie graduated from Rochester High School in 1937. On Sept. 10, 1937, she married William Irby Carlisle. She was an avid sports fanatic, who especially loved the Texas Tech Lady Raiders and watching her grandchildren play basketball and other sports. Johnnie liked to bowl and play Bingo, and was very talented at crocheting. She liked storytelling to her grandchildren, and would do so every night before tucking them in bed when they stayed with her. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Rochester Church of Christ. She is survived by her son, Joe Carlisle and wife Carolyn of Anton; two daughters, Linda Reed and husband Bryan of Anton, and Andra Gradner and husband David of Portland, Ore.; six grandchildren, Michael Carlisle, Kirk Carlisle, Robyn Haston, Jason Gradner, Eric Gradner and Amanda Reed; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-granddog; eight great-great grandchildren; and a sister, Naomi Creel of Goliad, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Irby, on March 6, 1999; a son, Jerry Wayne Carlisle in 1954; a daughter, Cathy Irene Carlisle in 1969; a grandson, Craig Carlisle on Aug. 1, 2008; three brothers, Jesse James Duncan, Larry Duncan and RJ Duncan; four sisters, Ina Aldridge, Lee Cox, Laura Cox and Birdie Hathcoate; and a great-granddog, Bo. The family will receive friends today, Dec. 26, 2012, from 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield.
