Lubbock (Recently Austin)- Services for Joyce Johnson, 84, of Lubbock and recently Austin, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday in Sanders Memorial Chapel with Pastor Doyle Patterson officiating. Internment will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery.

She passed away Sunday, September 24, 2017.

Joyce was born July 4, 1933 in Spur, Texas, one of eight children born to Austin C. and Annie Rose. She graduated from Lubbock High School and Texas Tech University, where she met her future husband, Clarence Johnson. She taught third grade for many years at Idalou Elementary, and later taught preschool at Hope Lutheran. She was loved and respected by her students and their parents. She attended Trinity Church, where she spent many hours volunteering. She was also involved in local politics and volunteered for several campaigns.

She is survived by her son, Austin Johnson of Lubbock; daughter, Katherine Johnson of Austin; and granddaughters, Demetra Johnson of Yuma, Arizona, and Keeley Johnson of Moreno Valley, California.
