Katherine Jo Abers Johnson AMARILLO- Katherine Jo Abers Johnson, 60, of Amarillo died Sunday, May 6, 2012 in Amarillo. Memorial services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Amarillo with Perry Hunsaker officiating and under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors of Olton. Kathy Jo was born February 28, 1952 in Council Bluffs, Iowa to Irv and Dorothy Mass. She married Rick Abers in May of 1970 and they moved to Amarillo in 1980. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and a care partner volunteer with hospice. Kathy had a genuine love for children and operated a home daycare for thirty-eight years. In December of 2002, she married Terry Johnson. Decorating for holidays and attending Birthday Club gatherings were some of her favorite past-times. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and they will forever miss their Grammy/Poppi. She was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Mass, in 2011 and a sister, Susan Kelly Mass in 1976. Survivors include her parents, Irv and Norma Mass of Council Bluffs, Iowa; her husband, Terry Johnson of Amarillo; her son, Christopher Abers and his wife, Sara of Lubbock; two daughters, Stacie Ramage and her husband, Michael of Olton, and Rebecca Moffett of Kingwood and Jedediah Moffett of Houston; two stepsons, Derek Johnson and Jeff Johnson of Amarillo; and a stepdaughter, Tera Mireles of San Antonio. She was blessed with thirteen grandchildren, Zachary, Madison, Bryson, Bethany, Lanie, Analise, Haylie, Charlotte, William, Jordan, Anthony, Nicolas, and Brandon.
