Manuel Contreras Funeral services for Manuel Contreras, 70, 0f Lubbock will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday April 11, 2012 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church with Father Anthony Phelps officiating. Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Guajardo Funeral Chapels. Burial will be at Peaceful Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Guajardo Funeral Chapels. Manuel passed away on Saturday April 7, 2012 surrounded by his family. He was born February 8, 1942 in McAllen, Texas to Jose Angel and Esperanza Contreras. He married the former Pola Mu iz. They were married for 49 years. Manuel was a truck driver for Salvation Army and Selle Insulation for many years. He was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church and was a Guadalupano. Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Pola; children, Juanita (Pat) Contreras, Amelia (Chale) Herrera, Liza (Tony) Duncan of Arlington, Manuel (Adella) Contreras, Veronica Contreras, Elena (Mark) McDonald, Gabriel Conteras of Dallas, Alex (Adriana) Contreras, Peter (Amanda) Contreras and Paul (Beatrice) Contreras; brothers, Alfonso and Joe Contreras of Lubbock and Roman Contreras of Calif.; sister, Janie Garza of Lubbock; 20 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in dead by his parents; son, Andy Contreras; sisters, Carmen Arteaga and Mary Gonzales.
