Marie Joiner LUBBOCK-Marie Joiner passed away Saturday, May 26, 2012, at the age of 85. Family and friends will gather for fellowship Tuesday, May 29, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers, 6025 82nd Street. We will celebrate her life on Wednesday, May 30, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers, 6025 82nd St., at 2 p.m. A tribute of Mrs. Joiner may be found at www.memorialdesigners.net, where you may leave memories and expressions of sympathy for her family. Marie was born on July 12, 1926, in Astoria, N.Y., to Assunta and Erminio Damiani. Marie and Robert Clinton Joiner Sr. were married on June 1, 1946, in Astoria, N.Y. They moved to Lubbock, Texas, in May 1953. Robert preceded her in death on Feb. 24, 1977. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Lydia; and her son, Robert Clinton Joiner Jr., who died on April 5, 2003. Marie served her community as a volunteer at the Lighthouse for the Blind, St. Paul's Thrift Store, and the Methodist Hospital Auxillary, where she received her 500 hour pin. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and Christian. She was a member of Lakeridge United Methodist Church. Survivors include her daughter, Susan Joiner Cooper and husband John; daughter-in-law, Paula Joiner; grandchildren, Dawne Joiner Franks and husband Brian, Michelle Cooper Evitt, Robert Clinton Joiner III, Russell Cooper, and Holly Joiner Latham and husband Shaun; great-grandchildren, Hannah Evitt, and Vanessa and Lola Latham; sister, Linda Abbate; brother, Vannie Damiani and wife Josie; several nieces and nephews; and her caregiver, Rosa De Leon. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Hospice of Lubbock, Meals on Wheels, or the .
