Nela Swinson LUBBOCK- Nela Irene Swinson of Lubbock passed away on Monday, June 25, 2012 at the age of 94. She was born September 21, 1917 in Jackson County, Okla. to Everett and Pinkie Hall. Nela attended Challis School in Terry County. She married James Thurl Swinson on April 9, 1938 in Lubbock County. The couple farmed in Terry and Lynn Counties where they attended the Church of Christ in Meadow and later New Home. After retiring, they moved to Lubbock and became members of Green Lawn Church of Christ, where Nela was involved in Ladies Bible Class. She enjoyed being a seamstress for her family, baking goodies for the grandkids and playing cards and dominos. Nela also lived a strong, faithful life in the Lord. Those left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Joyce Stamps and husband Norman of Ropesville and Patsy Capps and husband Harold of Lubbock; son-in-law, Don Moore, Sr. of Artesia, N.M.; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Nela was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thurl on January 28, 2002; one daughter, Bobbie Moore on October 10, 2010; one great-grandson, James Thurl Moore; two brothers; and four sisters. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 28, 2012 at Combest Family Funeral Homes. Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, June 29, 2012 at Green Lawn Church of Christ with interment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
