Opal Jones LUBBOCK- Memorial services for Opal Jones, 95, of Lubbock will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church in Ropesville with Rev. Bill Titus, pastor, officiating. Services are under direction of George Price Funeral Home of Levelland. She died Saturday, October 13, 2012 in Lubbock. She was born on August 26, 1917 in Portales, New Mexico to Fred and Iva (Harris) Malcolm. She married Winston Ward Jones on June 30, 1933 in Lovington, New Mexico and he preceded her in death on December 14, 1993. Mr. and Mrs. Jones had moved to the Ropesville area from Terry County. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, Ropesville and was a fifty year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Freddie Jones. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Luther Malcolm and Gradon Malcolm and a sister, Gold Blackstock. Survivors include a son, Ronald G. Jones of Lubbock; a daughter, Janice Lee Gillette of Costa Mesa, California; two grandchildren, Darry Jones of Merkel, Texas and Alana Romans of Pawnee, Oklahoma; four great-grandchildren. Sterling Jones and Taylor Jones, both of Merkel, Texas, Callie Moore of Idalou, Texas, and Dustin Baker of Lubbock, Texas; and two great-great grandchildren, Ryan Jones and Cooper Jones, both of Merkel, Texas.
