Polly Emojean Harvey Dempsey LUBBOCK- Services for Polly Emojean Harvey Dempsey, 87, of Lubbock will be Visitation 4 until 6 p.m. on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 with funeral services on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at 1 p.m. in Resthavens Abbey Chapel in Lubbock with Rev. Charles Carmen officiating. She expired Saturday, December 1, 2012 after a brief illness. Arrangements are under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home of Lubbock. She was born December 6, 1924 in Dickens County, Texas and was married to Richard Warren Dempsey May 18, 1946 in Spur, Texas. They were wed 58 years. She served with the federal Department of Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Services until the 1970's and as Deputy County Clerk for Lubbock County until retirement in 1987. Polly was a loving wife, mother and friend. She leaves a legacy of Christian life for all who knew her. She was an advocate for people with developmental disabilities and had served as a board member for the Parents Association of Lubbock State School and in volunteer capacities for Lubbock Regional MHMR Center having spoken at state Congressional forums in support of community-based services for people who have mental retardation. She was a donor to many service charities and a member of Raintree Christian Church. She is survived by her son, Joseph P. Dempsey and daughter, Linda A. Dempsey both of Lubbock; brother, Andrew J. Harvey of Lubbock; sister, Mary Harvey Randal of Nicoma Park, Okla.; and brother, William K. Harvey of Houston, Texas. Any donations desired may be made to the Salvation Army, South Plains Food Bank, Starcare Specialty Heath System (Formerly Lubbock MHMR) or Lubbock State Supported Living Center Volunteer Services.
