Lubbock- Rebeca Mora, of Lubbock passed away Thursday, September 21, 2017. She was born May 14, 1925 to the late Jose and Remedios (Flores) Zamora in Francisco Sarabia Michacan, Mexico. Rebeca was the second born of twelve children. She was a member of Christ the King Cathedral. Rebeca came to the Unied Stes from Mexico City with her husband and daughter in 1962. She dedicated her life to serving the Lord and taking extraordic=nary care of her family. After he husband's death in 1981, She moved to Lubbock to live with her daughter. Some friends asked her to take care of their baby and then friends told friends and more friends and before she knew it she was blessed with many children to keep and love. Few people knew her actual name. She became known as Ma Beca, Ma or Mama to all her children, their parents, and everyone else. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter; Maria de Jesus Mora Gamble; her beloved son-in-law, Dr. James A. Gamble; brother, Evaristo Zamora; sisters, Raquel and Teresa Zamora; granddaughter, Shannon Hicks; great granddaughter, Ashly Powers; great-great grandchildren, Paiton and Conner. her solider grandson's, Captain Chris Kannan, Sargent Jordan Hughes, Petty Officer 1st Class Scott Taylor, Major John Taylor; and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. Rebeca was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolfo Mora; four little children; parents; grandson, Jamie Gamble; ten brothers and sisters. "Mama, duerme con los angelitos.' A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Christ the King Cathedral, 4011 54th Street. Family suggest memorials be made to Meals on Wheels.
