Lubbock- Rex Andrew passed away peacefully on May 15th, 2018 after a long and arduous battle with both Colon Cancer and Early Onset Alzheimer's Disease. Born July 15th, 1956 in Atlanta Georgia and shortly thereafter moved to Texas with family, Rex graduated from the University of Texas in Austin with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. His exceptional career included serving as an intern for the United States Congress, as a journalist for the Navy, as a police officer for the Plano police department, a reporter for several radio and television stations including KHLB in Burnet Texas, KRBC in Abilene Texas and KYFO in Lubbock Texas. He was also a beloved weatherman in Abilene, Texas. Rex served as a Justice of the Peace in Abilene, Texas for many years and remained a lifelong servant leader by serving on numerous non-profit boards and committees. Rex was very devoted to three things in his life, His son, his country, and his faith. He is survived by his son Jonathan Taylor Andrew, Age 21 of Lubbock, Texas. His father Charles Andrew and his wife Kay Andrew of Conway Arkansas, and his brother Charles "Andy" Andrew of Atlanta, Georgia, as well as several other aunts and uncles. Preceding him in death is his mother Nell Bridges Andrew who he will joyfully reunite with in heaven . Services will be held at Christ the King Cathedral Church on May 18th at 10:00 a.m. with burial to follow at the Slaton Cemetery. In memory donations can be made to The , South Plains Council Boy Scouts of America, or the Mental Health America Association of Abilene.
