Roland Fernandez SPUR- Roland Fernandez, 61, passed in Lubbock, Texas on Wednesday March 7, 2013. He was born in Lubbock, Texas on April 25, 1951 to Manuel and Francis Todd Fernandez. He married Toni Tijerina in Dickens on Aug. 2, 1969. Roland made his living as a Lineman Supervisor until he retired. Roland was a lifelong Catholic and President of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Spur, Texas. He was an active member of the Spur City Council. Roland enjoyed golfing and loved to fish. He especially loved spending his time with his family. Roland is survived by his wife, Toni of Spur; four sons, Roland Fernandez Jr. and wife Maria of Grapevine, Texas, Danny Fernandez of Dallas, Texas, Ernest Fernandez and wife Julie of Spur, Texas, and Robert Fernandez and wife Francis of Lubbock, Texas; one daughter, Cynthia Lopez and husband Felipe of Abernathy, Texas; and nine siblings, Yolanda Muniz and husband Paul, Alfonso Fernandez and Fina, Amanda Fernandez, Felicia Fernandez, Manuel Fernandez, Jr., Samuel Fernandez, Philip Fernandez, Melinda Fernandez, and Susie Fernandez. He was also blessed with three grandchildren, Ashley Lopez; Eric Lopez and Adrian Fernandez, and numerous nieces and nephews. Roland was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Francis Fernandez, as well as two brothers, Danny Fernandez and Jimmy Todd. Rosary will be held Sunday March 10, 2013 from 7 to 8 in the chapel at Zapata Funeral Home in Spur, Texas. Services will be held on Monday, March 11, 2013 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Spur, Texas with Father Renato Cruz officiating under the direction of Zapata Funeral Home in Spur.
