Lubbock- Sarjim Holcomb Howe Wenzel died on November 25, 2017 in Lubbock, Texas. She was born in Kemp, Texas, on January 12, 1937, to James Holcomb and Sara Ottis Louise McDougal Holcomb both whom preceded her in death. Her treasured brother, J. Robert "Bobby" Holcomb, also preceded her in death. A memorial service is pending with Southcrest Baptist Church. The Reverend David Wilson will be officiating.

Sarjim's family moved to Abernathy and she attended a portion of the first grade there. Her family then moved Lubbock where she attended K. Carter, Roscoe Wilson and Dupre Elementary schools followed by O. L. Slaton Junior High and finally Lubbock High School where she graduated with the Class of 1955. Sarjim loved Lubbock High and her classmates and was so proud to be a product of the Lubbock Independent School District. She enjoyed working on her class reunions. After Lubbock High she attended Texas Tech.

She married Leo Baker on June 1, 1957, in Lubbock. Their marriage produced her only child and beloved son, Larry. Leo served in the United States Army and they lived in Missouri, Viet Nam (before it was a war zone) Oklahoma, Italy, Louisiana, North Dakota, Alabama, Colorado, California, Hawaii and North Carolina.

Sarjim, Leo, and Larry returned to Lubbock, the city that she loved, in 1976. She went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and retired from there after a career of more than twenty years. Leo died on March 19, 1989. She married Ken Howe on September 7, 1990. They spent fifteen great years together. He died September 23, 2005. She married Rick Wenzel on November 1, 2012.

Sarjim loved her Lord, her family, her Lubbock High classmates, her Southcrest church family, friends from her working days and her neighbors. She was proud to be a Texan. She took pride in her yard and enjoyed growing roses. She looked forward to being with her girlfriends from Lubbock High as they met each month for the Birthday Club.

She is survived by her fantastic husband, Rick; her wonderful son, Larry; Derek, her adored grandson, his wife Elizabeth and their precious children, daughter, Chloe and son, Benjamin; her mother-in-law, Elva Wenzel; brother-in-law, Gordon Downum; sisters-in-law, Toni Holcomb, Jean Baker, Clydia Baker, and Suzanne Wenzel; step-daughter, Kimberly Howe Wagner; step-son Kenneth Howe; and step grandchildren Adam, Allen, Amanda, Bethany, Lyndie, and Ruthie.

Sarjim knew that love is everything. She would like for you to bring one rose from your garden (if possible) to her service to place it on the alter, and then take someone that you love out to eat and tell that you love them.
