Sue Ashley Winter IDALOU- Sue Ashley Winter, 82, of Idalou passed away Thursday, November 22, 2012. She was born August 23, 1930 in Lamesa to Ira and Katie Lou (Lisenbee) Ashley. Sue Ashley married Buddy H. Winter on September 3, 1948. Buddy and Sue moved to Idalou in 1956 and started and maintained a nationally recognized livestock operation and cotton farm, where she was the anchor and bookkeeper. She was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church of Idalou and was a Sunday School teacher. Sue Ashley was also a 4-H adult leader for over 30 years, because she loved kids and wanted to help them excel. Those left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Vicki Churchwell of Idalou and Janasue Winter of Lubbock; one son, Jay Winter of Idalou; six grandchildren, Will Winter and wife Marissa, Tanner Winter and wife Samantha, Ashley Riker and husband Kent, Tyler Winter, Jansen Churchwell, and Katie McCracken and husband Kyle; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Margaret and husband Ernest Hawkins of Commerce, Texas; two nieces, Kathy and LuAnne; and a nephew, Ray. Sue Ashley was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Buddy, July 20, 1989. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday, November 24, 2012 at Combest Family Funeral Homes in Idalou. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday. Celebration of life services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 25, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Idalou with Calvin Gray officiating.
