Wayne C. Huffaker TAHOKA-Wayne C. Huffaker of Tahoka passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2013, at the age of 75. He was born November 2, 1937, in Tahoka to Willie Calloway and Nina (Scott) Huffaker. Wayne attended Tahoka schools and Texas Tech University. He married Rachel Wells Feb. 15, 1957. Wayne was a farmer and rancher who spent his lifetime in Lynn County. He was past president of Plains Cotton Growers, Cotton, Inc., and the Texas Boll Weevil Eradication Program, and served on the National Cotton Council and Cotton Incorporated. He was the recipient of many awards and accolades including the Agriculturalist of the Year from Texas Tech University. Wayne was a member of the First United Methodist Church and served in the U.S. Navy. An avid outdoorsman who traveled the world hunting and fishing shared his love of the outdoors with family and a host of friends. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Rachel; two sons, W. Calloway and wife Gretchen, and Ralph and wife Karen, both of Tahoka; one brother, John of Lubbock; three grandchildren, Kassidi and husband Davy, B.J., and Samantha; and three great-grandchildren, Haley, Marley and Remington. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Gerald. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lynn County Hospital District Foundation, at the Lubbock Area Foundation, or the Lynn County 4-H Shooting Sports.
