William Dwain Burks LUBBOCK-William Dwain Burks peacefully left this life to be with our Lord on Tuesday, April 30, 2013. Committal services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, May 3, 2013, in Resthaven Memorial Park followed by a service to celebrate his life at 2 p.m. at LakeRidge Baptist Church under the direction of Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. Bill was born to W. E. (Gene) and Christine Burks on March 29, 1934, in Levelland, Texas. He graduated from Levelland High School in 1953 and then joined the Army and served for two years. Following that service he attended West Texas State in Canyon. It was there that he met the love of his life, Louise Hunter. They were married in Canyon on March 17, 1956. Bill worked for 23 years as a peace officer with the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission, retiring in 1983. He then spent eight years as a Special Deputy U.S. Marshal. He was a devoted follower of the Lord and a faithful member of LakeRidge Baptist Church. Those left to cherish the blessings shared with Bill are his loving wife of 57 years, Louise, of the home; one daughter, Dwaina Six and her husband Patrick of El Paso; one son, Jason Burks of Lubbock; three grandchildren, Tanner Six, Hailey Six and Kyle Burks; a brother, A.A. Burks of Keller, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
