Pedro "Pete" Alcorte Sr. LUBBOCK-Services for Pedro Pete Alcorte Sr., 75, of Lubbock will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with Bishop Randy Reddick officiating. Interment will be at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park. Family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. followed by the rosary at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014, at Guajardo Funeral Chapels. Mr. Alcorte passed away on Feb. 17, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 13, 1938, in San Antonio, Texas, to Pedro and Celia Alcorte. Pedro married Dalia Rodriguez in Nov. 1969, in Lubbock. He was a self-employed mechanic and owned Alcorte Automotive for over 20 years. He was employed with the City of Lubbock for the Street Department where he retired on Feb. 22, 2001. Pedro was a member of Church of Christ of Latter Day Saints. He collected coins, baseball cards, caps and model cars. Pedro is survived by his wife, Dalia of 44 years; his children, Jimmy Alcorte , Linda Sierra, Sally Rodriguez, Rachel Flores (Carlos), Tony Alcorte (Debra), Omar Alcorte (Veronica), 28 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. He also leaves behind his siblings, Mary Silva of Michigan, Fred Perez, Stanley Perez, Janie Olmos, Alice Minjares, Sylvia Rivera, all of Lubbock, Rose Mary Lozano of Vernon; additional sisters, Gloria, Basilia, Antonia, Susie and Janie, all of San Antonio. He was preceded in death by a son, Pete Alcorte Jr. (2005), and a sister, Sharon Barrientez.
