Sharon Lou Rice GARLAND-Sharon Lou (Echols) Rice of Frisco, Texas, formerly of Lubbock, was born Oct. 7, 1940, in Waurika, Okla., and passed away April 17, 2014, at Baylor Hospital in Dallas following a courageous battle with cancer. Sharon grew up in Garland and graduated from Garland High School in 1959, and then attended UT Arlington and Bob Jones University. On July 1, 1961, she married G. Larry Rice and together they had two sons. God gifted Sharon in so many amazing ways. She loved music and was a very talented singer and pianist. She was also incredibly creative and used her creativity to make everything around her beautiful. She designed and sewed many beautiful clothes, draperies, pillows-you name it, she could make it. She also loved beautiful flowers and landscaping. Up to the very end of her life she was re-designing the landscaping at her home and researching the best plants and flowers to maximize each spot in her lovely yard. Above her knack for creating beauty around her was her love for the Lord, her family, and planting and nurturing beauty in the hearts of others. She was a devoted wife, mom, daughter, sister and friend. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Nevela Echols. She is survived by her husband, Larry Rice; son, Gregg and wife Keri; son, Brent and wife JoAnn; her precious grandchildren, Reed, Reagan, Garrison, and Garner; three beloved sisters, Wanda Laney, Janice Fanning, and Donna Foster, and their husbands; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Visitation is scheduled from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Monday, April 21, at Williams Funeral Directors in Garland, Texas. Interment will be at Restland Cemetery at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 22.
