George William (G.W.) Hensley LUBBOCK-George William (G.W.) Hensley, 86, passed away at his home with family on Sunday, June 8. Visitation will be held at 6 to 7:30 p.m. today, June 11, at Sanders Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 12, in First United Methodist Church Bowman Chapel. He was a graduate of Lubbock High School and Texas Tech University and retired from Parkhill, Smith and Cooper in 1992. He served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War, was an active member of First United Methodist Church, member of Kappa Kappa Psi, Texas Tech Band, Texas Society of Professional Engineers, and was a Scoutmaster/Asst. Scoutmaster of Troop 402 for 14 years. George married Bettie McCafferty in Lubbock, Texas, on March 12, 1955, and recently celebrated his 59th wedding anniversary. George William is survived by his wife, Bettie; three sons, Scott Hensley and wife Jana of Lubbock, David Hensley and wife Karen of Frisco, and Robert Hensley and wife Vicki of Lubbock; five grandchildren, Julia, Cheryl, Denise, Katie Jo and Travis, all of Lubbock; two sisters, Ruth Ramsey and husband Bill of Dumas, and Pat Wheeler of Lubbock. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Stella Hensley. The family requests memorials to First United Methodist Church Everliving Trust Fund in lieu of flowers.
