Don R. Whitlock LUBBOCK-Don R. Whitlock was born at home near Ropesville, Texas, on Aug. 19, 1943, to Bob and Ruth Whitlock, longtime residents of the Ropesville area. Don passed away on May 27, 2014, under the care of Hospice in Austin, Texas. Don had fought a courageous battle with Parkinson's disease, and the complications for several years. Don graduated from Ropes High school and Texas Tech University. Don was employed by the Internal Revenue Service for over 40 years; part of this time was in London, England. In 1967 Don married Sherry Treece in Odessa, Texas. They were the parents of two children, Rob Whitlock of Houston, Texas, and Joy Camp of Austin, Texas; and two granddaughters, who were very precious to Don. Don was preceded in death by his wife, Sherry (2013); his parents; one niece; one nephew-in-law; and three brothers-in-law. Don is survived by his son and daughter; granddaughters; three sisters, Ruth Hart, Jacque Goad, and Betty Lamb; two brothers, Bobby J. Whitlock and Thom Whitlock; one brother-in-law and family, Jerry Treece; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. There will be a memorial service for Don at 2 p.m. on June 22, 2014, at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar, Austin, TX.
