Neely Wolffarth LUBBOCK-Services for Neely Wolffarth, 74, of Lubbock will be at 10 a.m. Monday, June 23, 2014, in Sanders Memorial Chapel with Dr. Wyatt Fenno officiating. Burial will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery. Neely's family will receive friends from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Mr. Wolffarth passed away on June 20, 2014, after a lengthy battle with COPD. Neely was born July 30, 1939, in Lubbock, Texas, to Dwight and Evelyn Wolffarth; he was a grandson of early Lubbock pioneers, George C. Wolffarth and Lottie Hunt Wolffarth. In high school he competed four years at the state level in the 880 yard dash event and won the state title his junior year. He graduated from Seminole High School in 1958 and attended Howard Payne University on a track scholarship. Neely married Barbara Chambers on Dec. 17, 1965, in Lubbock, Texas. He was a cement contractor for over forty years and was involved in the construction of many of Lubbock's large well-known buildings. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. Loved ones include his wife of 48 years, Barbara; daughters, Audra Goolsby and her husband James, Laura McGinnis and her husband Jeff; sister, Martha Jones and her husband Lawrence; grandchildren, Austin Goolsby, Baylee Goolsby, Garrett McGinnis and Logan McGinnis; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Later in life he enjoyed the time he spent following his grandchildren's many activities and time with his family.
